Patrick Stewart invites Whoopi Goldberg to return to the Star Trek universe on 'Picard' season 2!

Today on The View Whoopi Goldberg had the opportunity to interview her old co-star and friend Patrick Stewart about the success of the restored character and spin-off series 'Picard'.

It's been over 30 years since 'Star Trek The next Generation' first aired. Goldberg first appeared as 'Guinan' along side Stewart on “The Next Generation” in the show’s second season. She made multiple guest appearances until the end of the show’s run, then once again reprised the role in the 1994 feature film, "Star Trek Generations.”

However the energy in the room erupted once Stewart, 79, made a surprising offer during his interview on which had Goldberg 64, completely caught off guard.

“I have something I need to bring up,” he said to the panel. “I’m here with a formal invitation, and it’s for you, Whoopi.”
“Alex Kurtzman, who is the senior executive producer of ‘Star Trek Picard,’ and all of his colleagues, of which I am one, want to invite you into the second season,” Stewart said. “Please say yes.”

“Yes, yes, yes,” she replied.

Whoopi also went on to elaborate about her experience working on the series.

“Star Trek was one of the great experiences from the beginning, to the end,” said Goldberg, who couldn’t stop smiling. “I had the best, best, best time. Best time, ever.”
