Actor John Witherspoon Dies at 77.

John Witherspoon, actor-comedian who for decades made audiences laugh in television shows and films, including the hit Friday franchise, died suddenly at his home today.

It is with great sadness to report that actor/comedian John Witherspoon, commonly known as pops from The Wayans Brothers, and Ice Cube’s Friday series has passed away. We at CritiX Media would like to share our deepest condolences to the family and friends of such an iconic Comedian. We cherish the laughter and entertainment he has brought us over the past few decades.

Witherspoon’s family said in a statement to Deadline. “He is survived by his wife Angela, and his sons JD, Alexander, and a large family. We are all in shock, please give us a minute for a moment in privacy and we will celebrate his life and his work together. John used to say ‘I’m no big deal’, but he was huge deal to us.”

He sure was. Witherspoon was 77 years old.
