ANNIHILATION [REVIEW]

Film: Annihilation Starring: Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tessamae Thompson, Gina Rodriguez Director: Alex Garland Review: Migz Lopez Rating: 3X's out of 5X's Based on the best selling Southern Reach novels, Annihilation is the follow up film by director Alex Garland who's previous film is the critically acclaimed, academy awards nominated #ExMachina. Just like its predecessor, Annihilation is a smart modern day sci-fi movie which intends to leave a mark on its audience. Natalie Portman stars as Lena, a biology college professor(with a military background) who's husband had been missing in action for a year.

In order to find out what happened to him, she and a group of scientists head into The Shimmer, a mysterious area that's ever expanding ever since something fell from the sky. Annihilation strength lies in the excellent performance of #Portman and the rest of the cast. #OscarIsaac, Tessa Thompson, #TuvaNovotny, Jennifer Jason Leigh, #BennedictWong and specially #GinaRodriguez turn in great performances. Although I have issues with the third act and an early revelation of most characters fates which later on removes some of the tension, Annihilation is still a very good entry into the sci-fi genre. Released internationally by #Netflix and in theaters stateside, I'd recommend watching it on the big screen as the visuals and sound effects alone are worth the price of admission. Annihilation is in #theaters now.
