Arvil Lavigne Plans To Revist "Sk8ter Boi" The Film Adaptation!


It was back in 2003 when Billboard first reported Paramount Pictures was commissioning a 'Sk8er Boi' film based on the hit single by pop star Avril Lavigne, but it was never made.


Well, 19 years later and 6 months after making her TikTok debut alongside pro skater Tony Hawk, Pop Punk star Avril Lavigne has announced that she will be making the film adaptation to her 2002 hit "Ska8ter Boi".


In leu of the songs 20th year anniversary, Lavigne felt it was the right time. During an appearance on the She Is The Voice podcast, Lavigne stated saying the track is still one of her favorites to play live "to this day".

"Recently with it being almost the 20th anniversary, a lot of people have been asking me to play this song on TV shows, so it keeps getting brought back up and people will always reference it to me," And so, I'm actually going to turn this song into a film and take it to the next level."

she explained.


'Sk8er Boi', was released as the second single from her debut album Let Go, released when the Canadian singer was just 16 years old. Lavigne talked in detail about the inspiration and emotion behind the song.


"You know what it was like in high school, you have all the different groups and cliques, and there's like skaters, preps and jocks, It's kind of like a missed opportunity at love."

She Continued.

"And it's like the skater boy is in love with the preppy girl and she's like too cool for him, but then five years from now she's feeding the baby and she's all alone and she wishes she would have followed her heart and not tried to live up to society's expectations."
