‘Black Phone 2’ Comes Home — And Universal Is Bringing New Nightmares With It

Some phones don’t stop ringing… even after you think the nightmare ended.

Universal has announced that BLACK PHONE 2 — Blumhouse’s chilling follow-up to the 2022 horror hit — is coming home:

  • DIGITAL — November 4, 2025

  • 4K UHD / Blu-ray / DVD — December 23, 2025

The Grabber Isn’t Done Yet

In BLACK PHONE 2, Hawke’s sadistic killer keeps tormenting Finn (Mason Thames) — post-mortem — shifting the threat toward Finn’s sister Gwen (Madeline McGraw). The teens try to break the cycle of psychological torture… only to uncover a violent secret buried in this snow-covered Colorado nightmare.

This story doesn’t just continue the mythology —it cracks it open.

Shot in a deserted church camp buried in winter, this follow-up leans into isolation horror: cold, empty, echoing spaces that swallow children whole.

If you thought the first film scarred you — director Scott Derrickson (Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) is doubling down on the dread this time around, with Ethan Hawke returning as The Grabber… except now the terror has evolved beyond the grave.

This sequel expands Joe Hill’s original short story mythology in a way critics are already calling “scarier than its predecessor” (Gizmodo), with Slasher Reviews labeling it a “cold blooded masterpiece.” And honestly… they might be right.

The Cast Level Up

Returning + new faces include:

  • Mason Thames

  • Madeline McGraw

  • Jeremy Davies

  • Demián Bichir

  • Miguel Mora

  • and Ethan Hawke

This one is produced by Jason Blum, co-written by Scott Derrickson & C. Robert Cargill — with Joe Hill himself on board as executive producer.

Fans Get The Goods: Deleted Scenes + Featurettes

Universal isn’t phoning this one in — when you buy the film, fans get access to exclusive bonus features:

Deleted Scenes

  • Gwen & Ernesto in the library

  • Mustang’s confessions

  • Ernesto & Gwen kiss

  • Gwen prays…and more.

Featurettes

  • Dialed In: The Cast of Black Phone 2

  • A Story Carved in Ice

  • Frozen in Time

  • Director Commentary by Scott Derrickson

This is what physical media nerds live for — the hidden corners that films never put in the theatrical cut.

Final Thought

BLACK PHONE 2 isn’t just “more of the same.”It’s the rare sequel that evolves the killer, the mythology, and even the afterlife rules behind the threat.

The Grabber was terrifying in life.He might be worse now that he’s dead.
