It appears that fifth and final season of Lucifer ”will be in good hands” because Actor Dennis Haysbert [All State commercials, 24] will be Joining the cast as the almighty himself. Thats right, via Entertainment Weekly, Dennis Haysbert will join the cast as God.
“We did like the big crazy list of (possible actors for the part), and he was my top choice,”
explained co-showrunner Joe Henderson. “We were lucky. It was our first and only offer.”
D.B. Woodside actually provided an assist in getting Haysbert on board with the show. The two previously worked alongside each other in 24, as David and Wayne Palmer.
“Every time I see D.B., there’s always this fondness and this connection,” said Haysberg . “We worked on a show that was arguably one of the best shows ever produced in television, so you’re going to have a kind of camaraderie. I don’t know how I went from brothers to father. We’re celestial. We can do that.”
At the end the of season 4, Tom Ellis’ Lucifer reluctantly returned to Hell after Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) finally told him that she loves him. In the comics, Lucifer had a very strained relationship with God, and a desire to make his own destiny. We’ll see how that plays out on the show soon enough.
Lucifer season 5 part 1 will hit Netflix later this year.
