As FROM continues to blur the line between psychological horror and supernatural mystery, one character has quietly become one of the series’ most fascinating emotional anchors.
Fatima.
Over the past two seasons, audiences have watched her evolve from one of the town’s brightest sources of hope into a character caught in some of the show’s most disturbing and unexplainable storylines. As strange new abilities emerge and terrifying questions begin surrounding her place within the mythology, actress Pegah Ghafoori says the uncertainty viewers experience is exactly what she experiences while filming.
That authenticity, she explains, isn’t accidental.
“The writers and creators have made sure the actors are in the same boat,” Ghafoori told WeAreCritiX during our recent conversation. “If there is something she isn’t supposed to know, I don’t know it.”
It’s a creative decision that has become one of FROM’s greatest strengths. Rather than giving actors the complete roadmap of where their characters are headed, the series allows them to discover the mystery alongside the audience.
The result is performances that never feel manufactured or overly calculated. Every revelation lands with genuine surprise because the actors themselves are often processing those moments for the first time.
For Ghafoori, that means approaching every script one page at a time.
Instead of focusing on what happens later in an episode, she concentrates entirely on the emotional truth of each individual scene. It’s a philosophy that mirrors the experience of the characters themselves. In a town where tomorrow is never guaranteed, thinking too far ahead often proves impossible.
“Every page is filled with so many human moments and supernatural moments. You never want to miss anything. I focus on the page, what’s on the page, and what’s behind the page.”
That approach has helped make Fatima one of the show’s most compelling characters. While monsters and mysteries often dominate conversations surrounding FROM, much of the emotional tension comes from watching ordinary people attempt to understand extraordinary circumstances. Fatima isn’t reacting with knowledge the audience doesn’t have. She’s reacting exactly as anyone else would—confused, frightened, hopeful, and constantly searching for answers.
Bringing Horror to Life Isn’t Just Emotional—It’s Physical
Although viewers often focus on the emotional trauma the characters endure, Ghafoori revealed that some of the greatest challenges happen long before the cameras start rolling.
Between prosthetics, practical effects, and physically demanding sequences, simply portraying Fatima’s increasingly disturbing journey requires a tremendous amount of preparation.
“When things get wet and sticky, everything is harder,” she laughed. “When things are attached and pulling, so you can’t move as much, things are harder.”
Still, she says the physical side of the role is only part of the challenge.
The emotional work often proves even more demanding because many of the situations her character experiences are unlike anything most people could ever imagine. Rather than relying solely on performance techniques, Ghafoori says she has to mentally place herself inside those impossible moments until the fear becomes real.
“A lot of hyperventilating on set for me with this.”
It’s that willingness to fully immerse herself in Fatima’s emotional reality that has helped elevate many of the series’ biggest moments. Even when the story ventures deep into supernatural territory, her performance remains grounded in something deeply human.
Hope Comes at a Cost
Without venturing into spoiler territory, our conversation naturally shifted toward the explosive season finale.
One recurring theme throughout this season has been the idea that knowledge always comes with a price. Every answer seems to create even bigger questions, and every discovery forces the characters further into the unknown.
When asked what fans should expect from the finale, Ghafoori smiled before offering perhaps the most FROM-appropriate answer imaginable.
“There are always questions.”
However, she also hinted that viewers may walk away with something the series rarely offers in abundance.
Hope.
That optimism, however, comes with a warning.
As longtime fans already know, FROM has never been interested in providing easy victories.
Whenever the town appears ready to reveal its secrets, it has a habit of taking just as much away as it gives. If the finale follows that tradition, audiences should prepare themselves for another emotional roller coaster.
Having seen the episode ourselves, we can confidently say the finale delivers exactly the kind of jaw-dropping conversation starter fans have come to expect from the series.
And somehow, it still leaves us wanting more.
Final Thoughts
Pegah Ghafoori continues to prove why Fatima has become one of FROM’s most captivating characters. By embracing uncertainty alongside the audience, she delivers a performance rooted in vulnerability, authenticity, and emotional honesty—even when the world around her becomes increasingly impossible to understand.
If Season 4 reinforced anything, it’s that Fatima’s journey is far from over.
And if Ghafoori’s comments are any indication, the answers fans have been searching for may only lead to even greater mysteries.
