FROM Season 4: Scott McCord and Robert Joy Explain Why Victor and Henry's Reunion Is More Complicated Than It Looks

By Klep Napier | WeAreCritiX.com

One of the most emotional storylines unfolding throughout FROM Season 4 isn't necessarily tied to the monsters, mysteries, or the increasingly terrifying revelations surrounding the town itself.

Instead, it's rooted in something far more human.

Family.

More specifically, the fractured relationship between Victor and his father Henry.

For years, Victor has existed as one of the show's most fascinating mysteries. A survivor whose childhood was stolen by the horrors of Fromville, Victor has spent decades navigating a reality that few could ever comprehend. Now, after finally being reunited with his father, audiences are watching two deeply traumatized people attempt to reconnect while the world around them continues to collapse.

When we recently sat down with Scott McCord and Robert Joy, the actors behind Victor and Henry, our conversation focused on that reunion, the emotional obstacles standing between these two characters, and why their relationship remains one of the most compelling aspects of Season 4.

A Reunion Built on Trauma

At first glance, Victor and Henry's reunion should feel like a triumphant moment.

A father finally finding his son after decades apart.

A son finally reconnecting with the family he lost.

But FROM has never been interested in easy resolutions.

Instead, the series asks a difficult question: What happens when two people desperately want to reconnect, but decades of trauma, loss, and emotional baggage stand in the way?

That tension sits at the center of nearly every interaction between Victor and Henry.

Victor appears to be reaching a point where he is slowly accepting the impossible nature of Fromville. After years of surviving its horrors, he has developed a relationship with the town that no one else can fully understand. Henry, on the other hand, is still struggling to process the reality of everything happening around him.

The result is a relationship where both men desperately want the same thing but are approaching it from entirely different emotional perspectives.

As Robert Joy explained:

"We're strange to each other on some level. But right from the first time we had our reunion, when we hadn't seen each other for 40 years, there's an appetite to connect. We're desperate to connect with each other."

It's a simple statement, but one that perfectly captures why their storyline works so well.

Neither character is questioning whether they love one another.

The challenge is figuring out how to find that love through circumstances that continue making connection feel impossible.

Finding Humanity Amid the Chaos

One of the strengths of FROM has always been its ability to balance large-scale mysteries with deeply personal stories.

While audiences continue chasing answers about the town, the monsters, and the increasingly bizarre revelations surrounding the mythology, the show's emotional foundation remains its characters.

Victor and Henry exemplify that balance.

Their storyline isn't driven by supernatural horror. It's driven by grief, regret, addiction, forgiveness, and the complicated reality of trying to rebuild a relationship after decades of separation.

According to Joy, that's what makes the material so rewarding to explore.

The characters aren't simply trying to survive the horrors around them. They're trying to navigate an emotional reunion while those horrors continue escalating.

And in FROM, there is never enough time to stop and process.

The danger is always waiting around the corner.

Why FROM's Writing Continues to Surprise Its Cast

One thing that stood out during our conversation was how much the actors themselves remain invested in discovering where the story goes next.

Unlike many television productions where performers have a clear roadmap, FROM continues to surprise its own cast.

That unpredictability has become part of the experience.

For McCord and Joy, the biggest excitement each season isn't necessarily seeing how their characters evolve. It's seeing what creator John Griffin has planned next.

Both actors spoke passionately about the writing and the constant stream of surprises that continue to emerge season after season.

In fact, when asked what they most look forward to when returning each year, McCord's answer wasn't centered on Victor or Henry at all.

It was the scripts.

"It's all a bag of surprises every time we step on the set. The thing you look forward to most is what the scripts are going to give you. It's a mystery to us."

That enthusiasm speaks volumes about the confidence the cast has in the creative direction of the series.

Even after four seasons, FROM continues finding ways to surprise not only viewers but the people bringing these characters to life.

Why Victor and Henry May Be the Heart of Season 4

While FROM remains packed with monsters, mythology, and increasingly terrifying revelations, the relationship between Victor and Henry quietly represents something larger.

Hope. Not the hope of escaping Fromville. The hope of repairing something broken. The hope of reconnecting despite unimaginable circumstances.

The hope that even after decades of separation, trauma, and loss, some relationships are still worth fighting for. Season 4 continues testing that hope at every turn.

But that's exactly what makes Victor and Henry's story so compelling.

In a town built on fear, they remain one of the few storylines built on the possibility of healing.

And in a series as dark as FROM, that may be one of the most powerful mysteries of all.
