Jamie Foxx Returns With New Netflix Sitcom 'Dad, Stop Embarrassing Me' Premiering This Spring!

Actor/Comedian Jamie Foxx has returned to the world of sitcom television, but this time he'll be portraying a single dad struggling to not embarrass his daughter.

(Foxx) plays Dixon, a successful business owner and bachelor, who has just become a full-time father to his teenage daughter Sasha (Kyla-Drew). in Foxx's corner is his dad (David Alan Grier) and sister (Porscha Coleman) — and in turn, Sasha’s going to need all the help she can get learning how to deal with her new, lovingly chaotic Dad.

Dad Stop Embarrassing Me is said to be inspired by Foxx’s real-life relationship with daughter Corinne Foxx, who also serves as executive producer.

"I was cheering at my final game in high school, and I look into the crowd and my whole family is there in T-shirts with my face on them," recalls the actress and cohost of Fox's Beat Shazam (alongside her old man). "It's 15 people, and my dad is the ringleader. The last thing a teenage girl ever wants is their dad drawing attention to themselves in that way."

Corinne told Entertainment Weekly.

She also went on about how she did not want her dad to play "himself", and that most parent/child "conflict" comes in the teenage years. "Brian really wants to understand [Sasha] so badly and be there for her — and he maybe goes to extreme lengths to do so."

The multi-cam sitcom reunites Foxx with showrunner Bentley Kyle Evans (The Jamie Foxx Show) and is directed by Ken Whittingham (black-ish), and is set to stream on Netflix April 14th. 2021!
