Valentines Day can be a hit or miss time of the year. For some, its a time to find love, share love or perhaps remember love. But for many it is a remembrance of what has been nothing but a series of failed attempts at an inevitable single life. Nothing more than an illusion of misleading smokey mirrors towards false passion. That is where Sony pictures and Spy Glass's 'Heart Eyes' comes in.
Directed by Josh Ruben and Written by the people behind, Happy Death Day and Freaky, comes a slasher film about a serial killer who's prime targets are couples in love!
Starring Scream's Mason Gooding, Olivia Holt, Jordana Brewster and Devon Sawa, this film stands on its business when it comes to promising to keep its EYE's on the horror and delivers even more on the HEART within its story.

Now, with all its praises earned, underneath it all, Heart Eye's is still a dark comedy and knows exactly what it is. Coming off of similar films like Scream and Happy Death Day, Heart Eye's pokes fun at the idea of love and the overly hyped traditions of Valentines Day.
This is builds on the films relatability with its audience, showcasing from the very beginning that this may be Valentines Day movie, but it will not be the same old sappy thing that you are use to. Thus bring in the tone, violence and gore.
Heart Eyes might layer in a love story between its two leads, Mason Gooding and Olivia Holt. Trust me folks, their chemistry is undeniable . But that does not stray away from the fact that this is indeed a horror film first. The gore is all an all time high and the sound effects that follow every bone crushing, blade hacking impact, leave a chill through your spine. The sound design in that effort are top tier in this film that will leave quite the impression on any true gore whores just looking to "feel something" other than the fiery electricity between Gooding and Holt.
Any downfalls you ask? Well the budget is small and the cast is even smaller, so with that being said, the chances of predictability are at play. Because most of us have been in these situations before, its not without pleasure that although we enjoy playing the "whodunit" game and with not that many faces to point the finger at, you may or may not come across the bad guy faster than you already assumed you would. But that does not take away from the fact that this is still an extremely hell of a fun ride.
Overall, Heart Eye's delivers and hacks its way through the Rom Com genre through a gory, none traditional love story. We highly recommend you find your person and see it in theaters on FEBRUARY 7th!
