Earlier this morning Dwayne The Rock Johnson took to Twitter to announce, via Deadline, that "Young Rock" actor Uli Latukefu, who plays the college football era Dwayne Johnson on the NBC hit series, is reuniting with the action star for New Line/DC’s Black Adam.
Deadline also reports the Australian native made his U.S. network TV debut in the Young Rock this past February. He was hand-picked by Johnson to play his younger self, beating out thousands of hopefuls for the role. Young Rock premiered on NBC to the network’s highest comedy ratings of the season. The Season 1 finale is scheduled for Tuesday, May 4 and has already been renewed for a season 2!
Check out what The Rock had to say about his new Co-Star below.
"This guy is special.
He embodies hard work and humility and it’s my pleasure to welcome one of our #YoungRock stars to our production of #BlackAdam⚡️
Congratulations @ulilatukefu!
Can’t wait to see you shine uso and light up the big screen!
#BlackAdam⚡️"
For now, Latukefu’s Black Adam role is being kept under wraps. but that isnt all you have to look forward to from Latukefu. Outside of work with Johnson. He recently wrapped Black Site opposite Michelle Monaghan, Jason Clarke and Jai Courtney. He next will appear opposite Michael Fassbender and Elisabeth Moss in Searchlight’s Next Goal Wins for Taika Waititi, which tells the true story of the perennially losing American Samoa soccer team as they try to turn their luck around under the guidance of their new Dutch coach Thomas Rongen (Fassbender) and qualify for the FIFA World Cup.
Things seem to be moving pretty quickly for the well deserves and rising start.
Black Adam is the second New Line/DC film following 2019’s critical and $366M-worldwide grossing hit Shazam! Shazam and Black Adam are arch-rivals in the DC Universe and may possible come head to head during or after Black Adam hits theaters on July 29, 2022!
We cant wait!
