Marlon Wayans just reignited the comedy conversation in a major way.
While appearing on the Rap Attack Podcast, Wayans confirmed that the future of several beloved franchises could hinge on the success of Scary Movie 6. If the film performs the way he and his team expect, audiences may finally get long-awaited sequels to White Chicks and Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.
In his own words, if Scary Movie 6 “does well like we hope it does,” they’re ready to “dig in the crates and bring back some hits.”
That’s the clearest indication yet that the Wayans family is seriously considering revisiting two cult-favorite comedies that defined an era.
Wayans also confirmed that Scary Movie 6 hits theaters on June 12, 2026, with the first official trailer set to premiere exclusively in front of Scream 7 on February 27, a strategic move that puts the parody franchise back in front of its core horror audience.

The film will reunite major fan favorites, including Anna Faris and Regina Hall, alongside the return of iconic characters like Shorty, Gay Ray, Doofy, and more. According to Wayans, they “loaded the deck,” signaling a true franchise revival rather than a soft reboot.
He also emphasized that their creative philosophy remains unchanged. The comedy isn’t about stuffing as many movie references into a script as possible. Instead, it’s about strong characters placed in outrageous situations. If parodies happen organically within the story, great. If not, the comedy still stands on its own.
That formula is what made the original films cultural staples.
Now, with theatrical comedies making a comeback and audiences craving that shared, water-cooler laughter again, Wayans believes the timing couldn’t be better.
If Scary Movie 6 delivers at the box office, it may not just mark the return of one franchise, it could officially open the door for White Chicks 2 and Don’t Be a Menace 2.
Scary Movie 6 arrives exclusively in theaters on June 12, 2026.
