Marvel’s ‘Black Widow‘ trailer dropped & heres what you should know about the upcoming prequel!


This morning the Marvel’s Black Widow trailer along with new poster dropped, and the hype is definitely real!

Scarlett Johasson reprises her role as russian assassin turned S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent, turned Avenger, Natasha “Black Widow” Romanoff and here’s what we know about the upcoming film!


The when:

The events of this film will take place directly after Captain America: Civil War, where we last saw Cap, Falcon, Hawkeye, Wanda, and Black Widow on the run after telling the government to shove it! After refusing to sign the Accords which registers and keeps tabs on all superheroes as civil servants under government supervision, Natasha/Black Widow goes into hiding back home in Russia. There, she will attempt to take care of some unfinished business.


The whos:

Johasson will be accompanied by comic book fan favorites The Red Guardian played by Stranger things David Harbour, Yelena Belova played a Florence Pugh, and Rachel Weisz as Melina “Iron Maiden” Vostokov. Returning from Captain America: Civil War as the Secretary of State “Thunder Bolt” Ross is William Hurt and confirmed to cameo is none other than Tony Stark/IronMan played by Robert Downey Jr.

Red Guardian: First Appearance Avengers #43


The Red Guardian, aka Alexei Shostakov, is a secret identity that was created as the Soviet equivalent of Captain America, although its use has continued after the fall of the Soviet Union. He will be played by David Harbour.








Yelena " Black Widow' Belova: First Appearance Inhumans #5

Yelena Belova is an amoral spy and assassin who was trained at the Red Room by the same spymasters who trained Natasha Romanoff, the first Black Widow. After the death of her trainer, Pyotr Vasilievich Starkovsky, she is activated as the new Black Widow and deployed to investigate. She will be played by Florence Pugh.







Iron Maiden: First Appearance Marvel Fanfare #11


Melina "Iron Maiden" Vostokov Hired as an assassin for the Russian government, she's also been employed under Thunderbolt Ross as a member of the super villain team known as The Thunderbolts. She will be played by Rachel Weisz.












The Villian:

Its been said, as well as shown in images and the trailer that the latest baddie to enter the MCU for Widow’s adventures, would be the one and only Taskmaster! Taskmaster, who first appeared in Avengers #196, is an assassin for hire who’s has the ability to scan the fighting technique of his foes, mimicking them and making him unbeatable simply because he knows their ever move. [Rumor has it, that in the marvel world, The character Deadpool Is the only one he can’t mimic simply because he’s too unpredictable]











Anyone who’s been following along the events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe knows that Black Widow had gotten a raw deal in relation to her fate in this years 10 year conclusion, Avengers: Endgame. But earlier this year, Head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige, assured the fans and that they should trust the process. Johasson also confirmed that ‘Black Widow’ packs a punch with Feige also adding, everything including this prequel is happening for a reason.
