Michael Douglas Set to Make Historic First Convention Appearance at Rhode Island Comic Con 2026

There are big convention announcements, and then there are moment announcements. This one sits firmly in that second category.

Rhode Island Comic Con just raised the bar in a major way, revealing that Hollywood legend Michael Douglas will headline this year’s event, marking the first convention appearance of his entire career. Yes, you read that right. After decades at the top of Hollywood, this will be the very first time Douglas steps into a fan convention space, and it’s happening right here in New England.

For longtime fans and film lovers, this is the kind of opportunity that does not come around often. Douglas is set to appear on November 6 and 7, 2026, as part of the annual celebration produced by Altered Reality Entertainment, the team behind Rhode Island Comic Con’s continued growth into one of the biggest pop culture events in the country.

Douglas’ career is nothing short of legendary. From producing the Oscar-winning One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest to delivering one of cinema’s most iconic performances as Gordon Gekko in Wall Street, his impact spans generations. That role alone earned him the Academy Award for Best Actor, and he later revisited the character in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. His filmography reads like a greatest hits collection, including Fatal Attraction, Basic Instinct, The Game, Traffic, and The American President, each showcasing a different layer of his range.

Beyond film, Douglas has also made a significant mark on television. His Emmy-winning performance as Liberace in Behind the Candelabra reminded audiences just how transformative he can be, while his Golden Globe-winning role in The Kominsky Method brought a new level of charm and reflection to his later career. More recently, he stepped into the role of Benjamin Franklin in Franklin, continuing to evolve as both a performer and storyteller. And of course, for Marvel fans, he is known as Hank Pym in the MCU, bridging generations of audiences in the process.

At Rhode Island Comic Con, Douglas will be participating in limited autograph signings and photo opportunities across Friday and Saturday. If history tells us anything, these will go fast. Tickets for these experiences are available for pre-purchase, and fans can secure their spots now by visiting the official event website at Rhode Island Comic Con.

The convention itself returns to the Amica Mutual Pavilion and the Rhode Island Convention Center from November 6 to 8, 2026, with full weekend programming, celebrity panels, vendors, and fan experiences. Show hours run Friday from 3 PM to 9 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 7 PM, and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM. General admission tickets, as well as autograph and photo op packages, are all available online

now through the official Rhode Island Comic Con site.

For me, this one hits different. Rhode Island Comic Con has always delivered big names, but bringing in Michael Douglas for his first ever convention appearance feels like a defining moment not just for the event, but for fans who have followed his work for decades. It is rare that Hollywood history walks into a convention hall for the first time. This November, it will.
