ree

Amid the horrific and tragic events in Ukraine, Netflix is suspending service in Russia. They join numerous entertainment companies and other businesses who have halted business there.

Netflix has also already paused all of its production and acquisitions work in the territory as well. A Netflix original project and detective drama series Zato in production is being halted as well as two further pieces of content Netflix commissioned from Russia, including its first Russian original, Anna K, the contemporary retelling of Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel Anna Karenina, which have already wrapped but do not have a release date.

No word on how the company will be handling billing issues and or refunds to its customers in Russia, but the company is said to have less than a million subscribers in Russia. It launched there less than a year ago.
