New 'Resident Evil' film in the works!

ree

Currently there is a new Resident Evil film in development. Unlike its predecessors this upcoming film will stay more true to the tone and energy of the game series. The original film series which consisted of six films from 2002-2016 was commonly regarded as a bit over the top and got more extreme with every release.

That is all about to change with this upcoming film. Johannes Roberts who will be directing the film wants to get back to the roots of the game which he stated in an interview.

“We are in active development of that (Resident Evil film) at the moment. I pitched them a take and they really loved it. So, we are just gearing up on that as we speak, really. I’m in the office all the time there. So, yeah, it’s great. It’s gonna be super scary. It’s super, super scary. And it’s just getting back to the roots of the game. I think at the moment, I’m not really allowed to say much more than that. But it’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

When people think of Resident Evil films the original series starring Milla Jovovich comes to mind; so Roberts may have his work cut out for him trying to separate this upcoming film from the original series. However, modeling the movie after the gameplay of the video game series may do just that.

The Resident Evil game series is one of the most terrifying game series of all time. Often times players refused to play alone or play with the lights off. A horror movie should bring that same eerie feeling for the audience. Roberts and his team have a lot of inspiration they can draw from to terrify movie goers.
