Rob Zombie To Take On Film Adaptation Of The Munsters!

Deadline reports Rob Zombie is pulling up to 1313 Mockingbird Lane. The Rockstar turn horror film director took to instagram to assure his fans that the rumors were true.

“Attention Boils and Ghouls! The rumors are true! My next film project will be the one I’ve been chasing for 20 years! THE MUNSTERS!”

The adaptation of the 1960s fright fest comedy will be for Universal 1440 Entertainment, which likely means it will stream on NBCU’s Peacock.

Zombie, known for directing two Halloween reboot films in the 2000s and most recently 3 from Hell and 31, launched his feature filmmaking career with House of 1000 Corpses (2003) and followed that up with The Devil’s Rejects two years later. He wrote and directed both but left no word on whether he plans to write The Munsters as well.

The Munsters sitcom originally aired from 1964-66 on NBC — the same time frame that the equally ooky Addams Family ran on ABC. The Munsters starred Fred Gwynne as a Frankenstei-ish character with a gentle side and Yvonne DeCarlo as the Bride of Frankenstein-esque Lily Munster.

Although It wasn’t a monster hit, The Munsters became a favorite in syndication during 1988-91.

Are you excited to see Rib Zombie take a spin at reviving The Munsters?
