"ROXANNE SHANTE" NETFLIX PUTS THE LADIES FIRST WITH BIO PIC ABOUT FEMALE RAPPER FROM QUEENS

The producers from Ryan Coogler's Fruitvale Station and the producers of Dope team up with Netflix to bring us a bio pic showing off the rise and the life of Queens, New York rapper Roxanne Shante'. Check out the first trailer below.

Starring Mahershala Ali, Nia Long and new comer Chante' Adams, this Sundance favorite follows the life of 14 year old Queens femcee, through her trials and rise to popularity. Roxanne was part of the legendary rap crew "The Juice Crew" and instantly made name for herself through performing and battle raps, specifically one in response to derogatory UTFO song ironically titled "Roxanne, Roxanne". The timing for this couldn't have been more perfect, since Roxanne and the rest of her Juice Crew family had just come off of a reunion show on February 11, 2018 in Philly. Its time for the world to know her name, again! Roxanne, Roxanne hits Netflix March 23.
