Searchlight Pictures has just released the first trailer for their upcoming dramatic comedy, Rental Family. The film is set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September before a wide theatrical release on November 21, 2025.

Brendan Fraser, in his first leading role since his Oscar-winning performance in The Whale, plays a struggling American actor living in Tokyo. He finds an unusual gig working for a Japanese "rental family" agency. This is a service where clients can hire people to fill in as stand-in relatives or companions. As he immerses himself in these roles, he starts to form genuine bonds that blur the line between acting and reality, leading him on a journey of self-discovery.
