Winston Duke widely known for his role in Black Panther along with Amazon Studios will bring the story of Marcus Garvey to life for a new generation that may be unfamiliar with his story.
In the 20th century Garvey was one of the preeminent Black leaders and founded a movement based on Black nationalism. The upcoming Garvey biopic will be titled Marked Man and will take inspiration from Negro with a Hat: The Rise and Fall of Marcus Garvey a biography written by Colin Grant.
Marked Man is set in the 1920s and will follow a young black man who recently joined the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover in which he is tasked to infiltrate Gravey’s UNIA organization. The young agent will be torn between doing what is right for his race and being a model agent.
We seen a similar dynamic in Judas And The Black Messiah where a black FBI informant infiltrated the Chicago chapter of the Black Panther Party and helped to lead to its demise. Marked Man is very much in the early stages with production dates yet to be announced.
