STARZ is stepping back into the world of crime, power, and betrayal this summer with Fightland, the network’s upcoming boxing-centered family crime drama executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
The adrenaline-fueled series officially premieres Friday, July 31, with new episodes streaming weekly across the STARZ app and all STARZ on-demand platforms. Alongside the announcement, the network also released first-look images teasing the gritty underworld and emotionally charged conflicts at the center of the series.
And based on everything revealed so far, Fightland looks ready to blend brutal boxing action with the kind of layered family drama STARZ audiences have become known for embracing.
A Story Fueled by Revenge and Betrayal
At the center of Fightland is Duke Kilroy, played by Howard Charles, a former heavyweight boxing champion whose life spirals after tragedy and betrayal collide on the very night he reaches the top of the sport. Following the murder of his brother Calvin during a violent assault, Duke snaps, eventually spending eight years imprisoned in the United States.
But prison isn’t where his story ends.
After uncovering disturbing truths surrounding the attack, Duke returns home to London seeking vengeance against Kingsley Marshall, the powerful crime boss and former boxing promoter he believes orchestrated the betrayal. The problem? Kingsley has disappeared, leaving behind his family, his criminal empire, and a dangerous vacuum of power.
That setup immediately gives Fightland more than just a standard sports-drama framework. This is a revenge story layered with organized crime, fractured family dynamics, and emotional fallout, all unfolding within London’s brutal criminal underworld.
A Cast Built for Intensity
Beyond its premise, Fightland boasts a cast stacked with talent capable of carrying both the emotional and physical demands of the material.
Alongside Howard Charles, the series stars Nicholas Pinnock as Kingsley Marshall and Deborah Ayorinde as Joy Marshall, who also happens to be the love of Duke’s life. Their emotional connection appears poised to become one of the show’s most complicated dynamics as Duke attempts to dismantle the empire tied to the people he once loved.
The ensemble also includes Anita-Joy Uwajeh as Cece Marshall, Charles Babalola as Zeek Marshall, Tahirah Sharif as Kim Harper, Tyler Conti as Justin “Jay” Hall, and Richard Pepple as Gary “Gazzer” Kilroy.

With that lineup, Fightland already feels positioned to deliver the kind of layered performances necessary for a crime drama operating at this level of emotional tension.
50 Cent Continues Expanding His Television Empire
For Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Fightland marks yet another major addition to his ever-growing television empire. Through G-Unit Film & Television, Jackson has become one of the most influential producers working in serialized crime storytelling today, largely thanks to the massive success of the Power franchise and BMF.
But Fightland represents something slightly different.
Not only is it G-Unit’s first internationally produced series for STARZ, but it also continues the producer’s interest in stories centered around ambition, loyalty, family fracture, and survival inside systems built on power and violence.
And from the sound of it, Fightland intends to hit just as hard emotionally as it does physically.
A Gritty New Chapter for STARZ
The series also arrives during an important moment for STARZ itself. According to the network, Fightland serves as its first wholly owned original series as STARZ continues expanding its self-owned programming slate.
That makes this release significant not just creatively, but strategically.
With projects like Outlander, Power, and prestige acquisitions continuing to shape the platform, Fightland appears positioned as another major step in STARZ’s effort to build high-intensity, character-driven original programming for adult audiences.
And honestly, boxing has always been fertile ground for storytelling like this.
The discipline. The violence. The ego. The desperation. The redemption.
All of it naturally lends itself to crime drama.
If the first-look images and premise are any indication, Fightland is aiming to deliver more than just another boxing series. It’s stepping into themes of grief, vengeance, family, corruption, and survival while wrapping everything inside the dangerous glamour of the fight world and London’s criminal underground.
And with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson backing the project, expectations are already high.
Fightland premieres Friday, July 31, exclusively on STARZ.
