The man who gave us The Evil Dead, Spider-Man, and some of horror’s most unforgettable twists is back and this time, he’s stranding Oscar nominee Rachel McAdams and fan-favorite Dylan O’Brien on a remote island in the pitch-black survival thriller “Send Help.”
20th Century Studios dropped the first trailer and poster today, giving audiences a taste of what happens when two crash survivors are pushed far past their breaking points and the result is as darkly hilarious as it is deeply disturbing.

The film follows Linda Liddle (McAdams) and Bradley Preston (O’Brien) two work colleagues who, after a catastrophic plane crash, find themselves as the only survivors on a deserted island. What begins as a desperate alliance quickly spirals into a psychological chess match, as buried grudges, shifting power dynamics, and primal instincts take hold.
The tone is classic Raimi: clever, claustrophobic, and laced with wicked humor. As survival becomes secondary to control, Send Help promises an ever-escalating game of strategy and sabotage where the real danger isn’t the island… it’s each other.
“I’ve always loved stories where interesting, dynamic characters are pushed to extremes,” Raimi explains. “In our story, the power shifts create an escalating situation that’s brimming with unexpected turns and suspense.”
“Send Help” is stacked with a high-caliber ensemble including Edyll Ismail, Dennis Haysbert, Xavier Samuel, Chris Pang, Thaneth Warakulnukroh, and Emma Raimi.
The film is produced by Raimi himself alongside Zainab Azizi (65), with JJ Hook (The Amateur) serving as executive producer. The script is penned by horror veterans Damian Shannon & Mark Swift (Friday the 13th, Baywatch), and features an original score by Danny Elfman (Batman, The Nightmare Before Christmas).
If the trailer’s any indication, Send Help a lot like feels like Misery on an island, but is shaping up to be one of 2026’s most compelling original thrillers and perhaps Raimi’s most psychologically twisted work since Drag Me to Hell.
McAdams and O’Brien’s dynamic feels electric, setting the stage for a two-hander that’s equal parts survival saga and social experiment. And with Raimi’s trademark mix of suspense, dark humor, and narrative whiplash, this looks less like a typical island thriller and more like a masterclass in human manipulation under pressure.
In other words: don’t expect palm trees and paradise — expect fireworks.
“Send Help” opens in theaters nationwide on January 30, 2026.
